RIP SWEET LUNA: 2000 - 28th August 2013
Your retirement in the comfort of a home was too short but you passed in comfort, with dignity and in the love of a family.
This is the last photo I took of Luna on 7th August 2013 - you can see her bright eyes and smile. She was happy and had been during her whole time in her forever foster.
Unfortunately, she took ill and deteriorated very quickly and sadly the right thing was to let her go. Sleep soundly lovely Luna, we will not forget you, nor will your foster family, nor those who looked after you for 6 years at the shelter.
We have left her story below just as it was before today and perhaps it will inspire someone to adopt/foster/donate to help more like her before it is too late.

How sponsorship changed Luna's life forever ...
Meet Luna
Beautiful, gentle Luna was born in 2000 and for eight years she had a loving home. However, in 2008 her owner, an elderly lady, became ill and had to move to live with her daughter. Unfortunately they were not willing to take Luna into their home as well. Hence she arrived at the shelter, very sad to leave her owner. Being a big, black older dog, poor Luna was overlooked for adoption time after time and it became increasingly likely that she would remain in the shelter for the rest of her days - but shelter life is no place for an elderly lady with creaky joints! So, in March 2013, in stepped a sponsor, Sibylle, - a life saver - who recognised that Luna's situation was urgent and gave her the opportunity to be fostered. That foster place has now become a 'forever' home and Luna has been welcomed into a loving home where she can relax in front of the fire, wander around as she pleases and has love 'on tap' 24/7! Luna's health and mobility has already improved within a very short time and she now has a soft bed to rest her tiring joints. She has a new lease of life for however long she has left thanks to her sponsor and to her wonderful new loving family. Perhaps we can't change the world but we have changed the world for Luna, and can do it for a lot more like her, with your help.
