Peggie (nee Pequi)

Peggie is a beautiful medium-sized Breton Spaniel cross, born approximately 2006, rescued and brought to the shelter after being found in the countryside with her pups in 2008.
She is one of the most endearing, gentle, affectionate, agreeable, playful, loving dogs you could imagine. She is excellent on the lead and off the lead who loves to have a run around and investigate her environment. She loves to play with other dogs but perhaps most of all loves to bond with people. When Peggie is taken out for a walk she comes alive, she smiles, she is fun to be with, fun to watch and always returns for a cuddle. She is guaranteed to warm the heart of all who come in contact with her.
In the shelter Peggie had a special bond with her friend Berta and because they were inseparable it was felt that they should be adopted together. Unfortunately, having two dogs adopted is even harder than having one dog adopted and so Peggie and Berta became ‘nobody wants us’ dogs.
However, recently, Berta fell ill and had to go into foster care in Spain leaving Peggie without her special companion and she gradually showed signs of being lonely and depressed. We wanted to change that for her by finding her the forever home she deserves.
Peggie has so much love to give and life to live and she will bring all of these things to any home that adopts her. She is quiet, calm, excellent with people and other dogs, will suit a family or a home where she can get lots of love, regular walks and hopefully be taken for runs on the beach or in the park. However, the most important thing for Peggie is human contact - so she will be happiest with someone is at home most of the time. Peggie does have leishamiosis which is treated with an inexpensive pill that we can provide, she also has two fused vertebrae. Whilst from time to time this may be the cause of some discomfort for her, this does not hold her back and there are few things she loves more than a good run. Peggie is also pretty agile and can jump very high so this will need to be taken into account when she finds her forever home.
Peggie’s incredibly sweet, calm nature is a testament to the volunteers who looked after her in the shelter for the last 5 years. However now is her time to find a home of her own …
