Urgent. Special forever home needed
Our little Pookie needs a special home, however, the latest photos received from the shelter show that he is indeed ready for a home. Please let this be his year!
He is only a little guy but is holding on to a lot of painful experiences. We helped to rescue him and his friend Ted a few months ago from a situation where he was living rough, being bullied and treated very cruelly by local children. So that Pookie can continue to progress and learn to trust people he needs someone dedicated to him, to help him step by step to learn to trust, someone with an escape proof garden and who is prepared to take every necessary precaution to keep him safe whilst he adjusts to life. Whilst in the shelter he has proven himself to be good with other dogs and is actually quite confident amongst his pack, however, he does not have enough regular human contact. He has progressed from being very hard to catch and handle - being very uptight and stressed but gradually after being cuddled securely for a while, talked to, stroked etc he relaxed. Now is positively enjoys it as you can see from his photos. He has yet to feel comfortable with either a collar or a lead on him but the only way this is going to happen is that if he has his own human. He could easily become a little lap dog and bring boundless affection and love to someone. We know that person is out there for him. We just need to find them. The ideal home for Pookie would be one with another dog from whom he could learn, someone with patience and understanding for what this little guy has been through, have a completely secure garden, and time and love to dedicate to him. Due to his very negative experiences with children in the past it would probably be easier for him to go to a home with no children. Could you be that person he is looking for?
