Did we ever think this would actually happen?
Answer: Not too sure, but we certainly hoped so because these are exactly the sort of dogs we are desperate to help!
Toby, Golfo and Bingo were born in 2004 and rescued as a pups from the countryside when they were only 2 months old, they have been at the shelter ever since - yes nine years! All three are shy and quiet, but when they become more confident with people each will make wonderful companions. They remained in the shelter for nine years only because they are shy. Imagine a shelter with 110 dogs, many of them barking, most of them friendly, some big, some small, cute, not so 'cute', boisterous, cuddly, many looking for attention, all of them craving love and human attention, most of them know how to get that but there are always a few who fear it. With perhaps 100 of those dogs clambering for attention, what happens to the 10 who shy away from it? Simple, they get overlooked. No matter how wonderful these dogs are if they shy away from human attention they never give themselves the chance to be met, cuddled and loved in the way they deserve. Ultimately they miss any chance they have to be fostered and ultimately adopted. Toby, Golfo, Bingo are 3 such boys. To various degrees they shy away from human contact yet we have shown that this shyness can gradually be overcome with time, love and patience. We have already made lots of progress with Toby, and Golfo and this could certainly be continued in a very caring, quiet, loving household....
We at Animal Angels Global are celebrating because through our nobody wants me project, all three will shortly be leaving the shelter. Toby and Bingo will be going to a wonderful forever home in the UK and Golfo to our amazing fosterer in Switzerland, Sibylle, who will find the forever home that is perfect for him.

...and they Toby and Bingo have now arrived in the UK with their little kennel mate Kika
OK time for our first piece of good news! Toby, Bingo (9 years in the shelter) and little Kika their kennel mate have arrived safely at their new home in the UK. They have been adopted by a wonderful couple with experience of shy dogs and already have an existing pack of 5 rescued Spanish podenco and podenco cross. So far they have enjoyed gnawing on bones in the garden, getting to know their new doggy family, a back massage while snoozing on the sofa and a trip to the vet where everyone fussed over them. So, 'so far so good' for them settling in and having a wonderful retirement in an amazing home. A huge thank you to Melampo - these dogs are a credit to them and to the volunteers there, to all who made this adoption possible and of course to their new mum and dad Catherine and Julian who have opened their home to Toby and Bingo and then decided their little kennel mate, Kika, could not be left behind. If you would like to help more dogs like them please remember our fundrazr account above. Thank you so much xxxx
